As part of the TOSH teams, operating room nurses define their practice through attention to nursing excellence and outstanding patient care, are driven by their expertise, compassion and dedication to evidence-based practice, and operate at a higher level of practice. The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient care as an RN. This professional nursing role will require the ability to coordinate care for patients, triage patients, and work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. Requires the ability to effectively work with patient referral sources, facilitate appointments, coordinate transitions of care, and provide patient education on complex conditions. The RN will work with the individual patient, their families, and providers of care to develop and implement individual health plans.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Associate’s degree in Nursing, Diploma RN, or Master’s degree in Nursing. Must be a graduate of an accredited RN nursing program Valid Registered Nursing License Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nursing experience; Basic computer skills. Excellent communication skills. Strong work ethics and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications: Current BLS ACLS certification Scrubbing experience Orthopedic experience a plus

Responsibilities

Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard. Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data. Evaluates patients' progress toward the attainment of desired outcomes. Administers medication following department/unit standards and the Nurse Practice Act. Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family-centered care principles, practice standards, and regulatory requirements. Supports integrating current evidence into nursing practice. Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff. Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning. Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders. Communicates care appropriately through medical record documentation. Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means. Participates in recruitment/retention of staff. Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards. May perform other duties as assigned.
