About the role

The Treatment Peer bridges transitions for individuals using opioids or stimulants from hospitals, shelters, and justice systems to outpatient treatment. They provide outreach, navigation support for MAT, and lead recovery-based groups using lived experience to motivate clients.

Description BASIC FUNCTION

  • The Treatment Peer will provide the following services for persons who use opioids and/or stimulants.
  • MAJOR
  • DUTIES: Bridge transitions from hospital inpatient services and emergency rooms, the criminal justice system, homeless shelters and OASAS residential programs to addiction treatment at OASAS certified outpatient programs in the CANS Network. Offer outreach, engagement and motivational services to bridge and retain individuals in treatment. Provide navigation supports to access MAT and other treatment modalities. Lead or co-lead recovery-based groups. Provide outreach/recruitment in community locations where prospective clients congregate to connect them to OASAS-certified outpatient treatment programs. Use lived experience to motivate and encourage individuals to access and engage with treatment and recovery services, including modeling coping skills. Complete monthly reports and meet monthly deliverables.

  • RATE: $45, 597.55 - $45.597.55 / year

Requirements

QUALIFICATION - EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: · Applicants can be a fully-certified or provisional Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or be highly motivated to train as a CRPA (“trainees”). Trainees will be expected to provide supportive services as described above under supervision while they are training and are eligible to have their certification expenses paid by a grant. · Individuals will be trained in and utilize evidence-based practices in providing peer-oriented services that support treatment and recovery. · Interested applicants must have a high school diploma, ability to work a flexible schedule and be able to travel throughout Bronx, Manhattan and Queens. · Candidates should have experience with and/or desire to work with a culturally diverse population in an addition service setting.
