About the role

Assists supervising physical therapists in providing rehabilitation services, including patient preparation and the implementation of treatment plans. Manages administrative tasks, equipment maintenance, and patient record documentation.

Job Summary

Assists with the provision of rehabilitation services to patients under the direct supervision of a Supervising Physical Therapist designated by the client facility, in accordance with state regulations. May function in a variety of settings including, but not limited to skilled nursing facilities, outpatient treatment centers, and home care settings.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Assists therapists as directed to prepare patients for assessments and treatments.
  • Assists with the placement and removal of appliances and splints as directed by the Supervising Therapist.
  • Assists the Supervising Therapist to conduct both individual and group treatment as outlined in treatment plan in the areas of ADL, functional mobility, ROM, strength, coordination, cognitive/perceptual remediation and functional maintenance.
  • Maintains department equipment by cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining orderly condition and reporting defective equipment.
  • Facilitates the smooth functioning of the department to which assigned by performing administrative tasks and clerical duties such as scheduling patients, obtaining and monitoring authorizations, and answering phone calls.
  • Maintains inventory of department equipment and supplies.
  • Participates in patient, family and staff education.
  • Confers formally and informally with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the patient.
  • Responsible for reporting on the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members. Coordinate and assist with care as directed.
  • Documents and maintains patient records that reflect patient treatment: (Evaluation, daily treatment record, telephone orders, billing).
