At Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC), we know that healing doesn't end when surgery is over or the emergency is stabilized. Some of the most important moments happen during recovery—and that's where our Wards Technicians shine. We're looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Veterinary Technician or Assistant who enjoys building relationships with patients, monitoring their progress, and helping them transition safely from hospitalization back home. What You'll Do As an ER/ICU Wards Technician, you'll be responsible for the care and monitoring of hospitalized patients recovering from illness, surgery, and emergency treatment. Working alongside our emergency, critical care, and specialty teams, you'll help ensure every patient receives exceptional nursing care until discharge.
  • Responsibilities include: Monitor hospitalized patients and recognize changes in condition Perform treatments and procedures as directed by veterinarians Administer medications and calculate CRIs and drug dosages accurately Coordinate patient admissions, treatments, and discharges with specialty service Maintain accurate medical records and treatment charges in the EMR Keep treatment and wards areas clean, organized, and ready for the next patient Partner with doctors and teammates to deliver outstanding patient and client care QualificationsWhat We're Looking For One year of experience in clinical practice Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT) or eligible for credentialing preferred but not required Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred Strong technical and nursing skills Excellent attention to detail and medical math abilities Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced hospital environment

Requirements

Requires one year of clinical practice experience and strong technical nursing skills. A degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program and CVT/RVT/LVT credentialing are preferred.
