About the role

Performs diagnostic imaging studies and fluoroscopic procedures in accordance with physician orders and departmental guidelines. Responsible for preparing patients, operating complex radiographic equipment, and maintaining quality control of imaging systems.

Overview Performs diagnostic imaging studies in accordance with physician orders and departmental guidelines.Prepares and transports patients as necessary.Prepares imaging equipment, room, and images, as need for interpretation.Verifies and completes studies in RIS and PACS.Maintains Quality Control on Equipment as Instructed. . Special Instructions Radiologic Technologist with cross training into MRI 10:00 to 6:30 shift

Responsibilities

1. Receives and reviews requests for radiologic studies.2. Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.3. Explains and prepares the patient for all radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.4. Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians topossible contradictions for procedure.5. Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly andsafety position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.6. Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and atthe patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As lowas reasonably achievable) standards.7. Maintains radiographic equipment and x ray rooms in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions andnecessary repairs to supervisory personnel.8. Performs various clerical duties including.9. Assists with examination of higher complexity such as arteriography, myelography, etc. Some examinationsmay require competence in venipuncture.10. Performs work of equal skill, effort, and responsibility as directed and may perform work of a higher level inpreparation for increased responsibility.11. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to generalsafety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.12. Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.13. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees toensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.14. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- andinterdepartmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Requirements

Requires an Associate's Degree in Radiology, ARRT certification, state licensure, and CPR certification. Up to one year of experience is preferred, along with the ability to meet hospital on-call requirements.
