Job Description

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join our team Remotely. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm ET Job Responsibilities: Perform analysis of chromosomes, which includes imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens. Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis. Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature. Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results. Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care. Perform and evaluate troubleshooting, document all corrective actions as needed. Comply with company policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience Preferred Qualifications 1 year or more of experience in Oncology Cytogenetics 1 year or more of experience in cytogenetic analysis Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG) ASCP Certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG) Additional Job Standards Experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment Ability to work independently and within a team environment Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position Able to pass a standardized color blindness test Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs Work From Home Requirements: The candidate must have a home office space that is a dedicated room, not shared with other people, and meets HIPAA compliance. The candidate must agree to have their home address added to reports of cases you analyze or report. This is a CMS requirement. Wired or wireless internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec is required. The candidate must have the ability to work remotely effectively as required in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with a demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands.
