About the role

The Associate Veterinarian will provide routine wellness exams, perform medical procedures, and maintain patient records. They will also mentor technical support staff and build rapport with clients.

Our founder, Dr. Saunders, treated tens of thousands of pets in the Avon Park community since for 40 years, and our sole purpose is to continue his mission—to provide the highest quality, modern veterinary care possible while building and maintaining a client/doctor/pet relationship based on genuine care and transparency.

What life is like at saunders

Our team at Saunders is comprised of various backgrounds and skill sets in the veterinary field. As a result, we are always looking for ways to best serve our clients, the community, and each other.

For example, our team created a community spay and neuter program where pets get the very best care at a low cost to the owner. We truly believe in delivering the best veterinary services to our community and are looking for another veterinarian to help our team achieve that!

Additionally, our practice is open Monday – Friday, with appointments taken from 9 AM – 4:30 PM. We are closed for one hour daily, so that our team can take a break for lunch, appointments, quick errands, or whatever else they need to do at that time.

Who we’re looking for

  • A compassionate and experienced veterinarian who is dedicated about high-quality patient care and community involvement
  • A team player who enjoys collaboration and mentoring other team members, while being open to constructive feedback
  • An individual committed to ongoing professional development and staying current with veterinary advancements

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine wellness exams and diagnosis
  • Perform medical procedures such as vaccinations, dental procedures, soft tissue, X-rays, and necessary diagnostics
  • Administer and accurately monitor controlled substances
  • Maintain and complete patient records
  • Serve as mentor to technical support staff
  • Build and establish rapport with the client base, demonstrating exceptional customer service and communication

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AVMA accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program
  • Licensure in the state of Florida or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start
  • Strong proficiency in medical knowledge and surgical skills
  • Exemplary professionalism and communication skills with both team members and clients
  • Strong decision-making and time-management skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an AVMA accredited DVM program and hold licensure in Florida or be eligible to obtain it. Strong medical knowledge, surgical skills, and communication abilities are essential.
