Opportunity Overview

  • We have an immediate opening for a full-time OR Medical Assistant/Surgical Tech to join our team at RMA of New York Long Island in Melville, New York and will float as needed to Stony Brook, New York.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday; 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Eastern Time. Works every 3rd weekend and some holidays
  • Compensation: $24.88 per hour (commensurate with experience)

In this role, the OR Medical Assistant/Surgical Tech will

  • Prepare and maintaining a sterile field with the required instruments and supplies to complete a designated surgical procedure efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Prepare, setup, and scrub for routine and urgent surgical procedures and prepare patients for surgery
  • Observe vital signs
  • Other related functions on an as needed basis
  • Proper maintenance of the procedure rooms and ordering of supplies

What You’ll Bring

Qualifications

and Skills Include:

  • High School or equivalent
  • A Surgical Technician Certification is preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification is allowed
  • National Operating Room Technician Certification (CORT) is preferred
  • At least one year experience in acute care operating room or assisting in procedures as a Surgical Tech is required
  • Open to non-certified medical professionals
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Smart, outgoing, organized and enjoy working with people
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills are required
  • Bi-lingual language skills are a plus; interest in the field of reproductive medicine is preferred
  • A current BLS/ACLS Certification is optional

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least one year of experience in an acute care operating room. Certification as a Surgical Technician or Medical Assistant is preferred or allowed.
