• Summary: Under a physician's direction, applies and adjusts plaster casts and assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices.
• Job
• Responsibilities: Assists in assessment of patient needs and fitting/finishing services of patients. Applies and removes casts including complex casting and orthopedic splints and devices, as directed. Applies and adjusts orthopedic devices such as braces, splints, and compression stockings, as directed. Provides patient education in the use of orthopedic equipment and cast and traction care, as directed. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given. Maintains examination areas; assembles/disassembles equipment and instrument ensuring that equipment is available for procedures and examinations. Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Provides organizational and clerical support to facilitate optimal care and clinic operation.
