About the role

The role involves assessing and treating speech-language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders for patients and their families. Responsibilities include planning, implementation, and demonstrating techniques, working either independently or under supervisory guidance.

The practice of speech-language pathology shall include assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, communication, and demonstration of techniques addressing speech-language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to meet the needs of patients and their families with supervisory guidance provided as needed. Otherwise, a speech-language pathologist shall work independently without direct supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Conferred from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
  • Coursework/Training Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • Upon hire: New Mexico Speech Language Pathologist license - New Mexico Speech-Language Pathology
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • Upon hire: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • 2 years Professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework/Training Educated or trained in dysphagia assessment and management.
  • Neonatal Therapist (CCH acute only): Degree from accredited program.
  • 1 year Acute care and/or inpatient rehabilitation experience.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, complete a Clinical Fellowship Year, and possess a New Mexico state license and BLS certification. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience and a Certificate of Clinical Competence are required.
