Job Description

Assures proper procedures regarding telemetry monitoring are followed. Follows established policies and procedures for documenting and reporting patient information. Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide quality patient care and a safe environment.

Job Duties Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

Recognizes the patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in providing safe, compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values.

Minimizes risk of harm to patients and others by following established nursing practices and protocols and individual performance.

Uses information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision making.

Continuously and attentively monitors patients’ cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry, accurately interpreting and communicating baseline variations to Registered Nurse.

Collects data and documents interpreted rhythms and significant events during shift.

Completes required reporting.

Maintains equipment and assists with application, return, and troubleshooting, escalating according to established procedures if necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED Cultural Awareness Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively. Health Information Documentation - Knowledge of the relevance of health information and appropriate documentation methods, ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and medical results in written or electronic form. (THNU0290) Patient Safety - Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks. (THNU0300) Life Support - Knowledge of the process taken to restore and maintain essential physiological functions, and the ability to apply these processes in a patient care situation. (THNU0320) Accuracy and Attention to Detail - Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to process information with high levels of accuracy. (I0960) BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association

Additional Qualifications

Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.

Examples

Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Candidates must possess knowledge of patient safety, life support, and the ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
