The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients.
Documents a thorough medical history from patient.
Contributes to the assessment of patients and administers medications or treatments as ordered.
Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
Counseling patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans.
The LPN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
In departments where applicable, responsibilities may include patient scheduling, insurance and guarantor validation, and verification of demographic information.
Additional tasks may involve coordinating provider schedules across multiple locations and managing daily scheduling adjustments.
Must have graduated from a school or college of nursing program leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Associate's degree in practical nursing is preferred.
Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements. Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility.
Requires current licensure as a practical nurse in the state/states of practice.
