Overview

Sentara Medical Group is seeking an NP or PA with Obesity Medicine/ Internal Medicine or Family Practice/Endocrinology setting experience to join the Comprehensive Weight Loss Solutions- Kempsville team.

Position Highlights

  • ●Monday-
  • Friday 8am-4:30pm
  • ●No Call ●Hybrid model- a mix of in person patient care and telehealth
  • Provide evidence based care for patients seeking weight loss options with medication management using FDA approved anti-obesity medications, and ability to identify OTC medications/supplements/vitamins that may influence weight
  • identify barriers to medication adherence and use behavior change counseling techniques when formulating treatment plan with patient through motivational interviewing
  • Assign meal plan along with diet/nutrition counseling
  • Educate patients on benefits of intensive, comprehensive treatment and lifestyle modifications while incorporating cultural considerations into treatment plans
  • Problem-solve with patients to address barriers to treatment and refer to services to address social barriers (SNAP, WIC, Behavioral Therapy, PT/OT/Speech and other medical specialties as needed.)
  • Maintain professional credentials,
  • participate in continuing education in obesity medicine,
  • Evaluate new and emerging scientific evidence in obesity in partnership with collaborating Physician and peers

Requirements

Requires a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with experience in Obesity Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Endocrinology. One to two years of experience is highly preferred.
