About the role

The Patient Navigator evaluates psychiatric patients in the emergency department and provides disposition recommendations to providers. They also conduct mental health assessments across the organization and facilitate referrals for substance abuse treatment.

The Patient Navigator evaluates psychiatric patients in the emergency department and makes recommendations to the emergency department provider as to the disposition of those patients. This position will consult with the attending psychiatrist. This position also evaluates patients throughout the organization as requested or urgently, who are in need of mental health assessments. This position facilitates or recommends appropriate referrals or preventative services, treatment and support for populations with alcohol, drugs and/or substance abuse.

Requirements

Requires a Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Science, or Social Work, or a Doctorate in Psychology. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience with mental health or substance abuse populations and hold a BLS certification.
