The Surgical Technician 2 supports surgeons and registered nurses in the operating room to ensure optimal clinical outcomes. They act as a liaison with the Sterile Processing Department and manage specialty supplies and implants for assigned services.
Surgical Hospital- Operating Room - Full-Time, Day Shift
The Surgical Technician 2 works under the guidance of the circulating registered nurse (RN) and surgeon(s). Embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements in surgical technician duties to ensure optimal clinical outcomes. Continually expands knowledge base and embraces new knowledge related to surgical technician duties. Refrains from performing duties requiring competency until competency is achieved, verified and documented. Continues to develop skill set and competencies to perform additional surgeries and procedures with increased complexities. Functions effectively within multiple teams and at various surgical site locations and in assigned specialties. Serves as a liaison between the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and the OR to coordinate special instrumentation and equipment needs for a minimum of one service. Assists nurse leaders and supply chain personnel to order, stock and maintain appropriate stock levels of Service Specific specialty supplies and implants for a minimum of one service
Completion of a surgical technician course required. Two years' experience as a surgical technician required.
Surgical Technician certification preferred. Certification may be provided by either AST (Association of Surgical Technologists) or NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing). Basic Life Support certification required.
