About the role

The technician is responsible for arranging patients for radiological examinations and producing x-rays to assist in medical diagnoses. They must ensure patients are not exposed to unnecessary radiation while following established guidelines.

Overview Arranges patients for radiological examinations.

Produces radiographs (x-rays) to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems.

Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.

Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Works under immediate supervision.

A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager.

Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree in Radiology required. License/Certification: Registered Technologist by the A.R.R.T Experience: Previous experience preferred About Us DeKalb Regional Medical Center celebrated its 35th anniversary in October 2021. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and the American College of Cardiology as a Primary Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center. It was also awarded the 2023 Get with the Guidelines Rural Stroke Bronze Quality Award from the American Heart Association. In fall of 2023, DeKalb Regional was one of seven hospitals in Alabama to receive an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group. DeKalb Regional Medical Center has 500 employees and more than 100 members of the medical staff.

Requirements

An Associate's degree in Radiology and registration as a Technologist by the A.R.R.T. are required. Previous experience in the field is preferred.
