About the role

Provide professional nursing care for acute and chronic renal failure patients within the hemodialysis unit and at bedside in critical care units. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care and discharge needs.

About the unit This is a 7-bay hemodialysis inpatient unit staffed with RN’s and hemodialysis technicians.

These team members care for the acute renal failure patient as well as chronic patients with end stage renal disease.

Treatments may be given within the hemodialysis unit as well as within the critical care and medical units at bedside.

The group possesses many years of dialysis experience.

Teamwork is the core of our foundation.

Scope of work Nurses, under the ANA scope of practice, utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles.

Nurses provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health's policies and procedures.

Applies the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge needs of patient/family/significant other.

Partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care.

Demonstrates knowledge of and competently performs technical procedures and uses equipment properly.

Documents in the patient record in a timely, accurate and concise manner.

Develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

Associates in Nursing Required Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years External candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years of related acute care experience. External candidate must successfully complete a competency assessment provided by nursing education required Internal candidates with less than 2 years of clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer. These candidates are to remain a unit-based PRN (casual) employee until they reach 2 years of nursing experience. MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required upon hire Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years

Requirements

Requires an Associate's in Nursing, a Michigan RN license, and BLS certification, with a Bachelor's degree required within 5 years. External candidates must have at least 2 years of related acute care experience.
