We are looking for a dedicated Radiology Technologist like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.

What You Will do in this Role

Report to work station on time and as scheduled and remain at work station until relieved for lunch or end of shift.

Position patients and adjusts equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures.

Instruct patient regarding procedures.

Follow prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.

Select length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.

Maintain examination rooms. Stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies.

Maintain accurate records.

Follow confidentiality standards.

Work as a team member within the radiology department and all other departments.

Participate in standby for modalities assigned and scheduled. When on-call paged, a prompt call is made to the hospital to determine the study to be done. Travel time to report in for the study will be kept within twenty-five (25) minutes

Scrub uniforms, clean and pressed, will be worn at all times when on duty unless otherwise directed by the Radiology Director or designee.

Complete all necessary forms for each study conducted and coordinates each study with the requesting physician or in their absence, follows instructions on the request form/transmission and checks each order against the physician’s order prior to beginning the exam.

Check arm band on each patient for proper identification.

Follow Lubbock Heart Hospital policies for time and attendance recording.

Participate in quality improvement and quality control projects as assigned.

Follow departmental policies and protocols for each exam performed.

Maintain licensure and/or certification(s) for all modalities assigned.

Is responsible for maintaining supplies in their assigned area and follows Lubbock Heart Hospital policies for ordering and gathering supplies.

Participate in inventories of supplies as assigned

Report any mechanical or system problems to the Director or designee.

Demonstrate initiative in their work habits while maintaining a professional demeanor with all hospital staff, guests, visitors, patients and physicians.

Efficiently goes about all duties assigned and works toward maintaining budgetary goals.

Is aware of incident occurrences within their work area and reports within twenty-four (24) hours to their supervisor using the proper form(s).

What Qualifications You Will Need

  • Graduate an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
  • New Graduates accepted.
  • Minimum of ARRT registration in Radiography and/or medical Radiologic Technologist certification from Texas Department of Health Bureau of Radiation Control.
  • Maintains current BLS certification.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of operation of assigned equipment through competency skills checklist(s).

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families, physicians, and our employees.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program with at least one year of acute care experience. Required certifications include ARRT registration or Texas Department of Health certification and a current BLS certification.
