Job summary

Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team in Hartley. The DSP provides direct care and support services to consumers, ensuring their safety and assisting with their physical, social, health, emotional, economic, and training needs.

This position plays a vital role in helping individuals achieve greater independence and quality of life while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Provide direct support and supervision to consumers.

Assist consumers with daily living activities and personal care as needed.

Ensure the safety and well-being of consumers at all times.

Support consumers in developing social, vocational, and independent living skills.

Maintain accurate documentation and reports.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Follow agency policies, procedures, and consumer service plans.

Utilize approved verbal and physical interventions when necessary to manage aggressive behaviors.

Qualifications

  • Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Requirements

  • Must be physically able to assist consumers as needed.
  • Must be able to utilize approved verbal and physical interventions when necessary.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance preferred.
  • Personal communication device preferred for regular communication with supervisors.
