About the role

Provide population-specific perioperative care, including assessments and patient history for SDS, PACU, and Endo units. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain continuity of care.

Job summary

The RN / GN must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care from newborn through age 105. He/she must have the ability to assess, evaluate, identify, and interpret the requirement and needs of the patients and perform based on those findings.

The RN / GN reports directly to Charge Nurse/Assistant Director/Director of Perioperative Services.

Qualifications

Education

RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.

Licensure/Certification

Must have a valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing. PALS certification required if working PACU. ACLS certification if caring for patients having procedures with sedation. BLS Certification required.

Work Experience

Prefer one year experience as medical/surgical staff nurse. Successful completion of hospital orientation. Membership in professional organization desirable.

Responsibilities/Job duties

Demonstrates the knowledge of needs and task for SDS/PACU/Endo such as assessments, obtaining patient history, critical thinking skills, notifying physician as needed, specimens, handwashing, etc.

Holds self and other staff members accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patient in his/her work area and throughout the hospital.

Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care.

Demonstrates teamwork through communication, cooperation, coordination, and conflict resolution with others and implementing multidisciplinary actions to provide continuity of care.

Ensures the satisfactory completion of clinical procedures, documentation, educational and procedural teaching of the patient and their significant other/parent before and after surgery.

Other duties as assigned.

Working conditions

On call response time as dictated per unit policy.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid Missouri State Board of Nursing license. Required certifications include BLS, with PALS and ACLS required depending on the specific unit assignment.
