Job summary

The Mental Health Professional I reports to the Program Director and provides mental health clinical services to clients.

Essential job responsibilities

• 1.
• Communicate an understanding of Turning Point's Principles of Community, Mission, Vision and Values as it relates to staff and beneficiaries.
• 2.
• Provide mental health services to children, youth and families including but not limited to assessment, crisis intervention, individual and family therapy, plan development, group therapy and case management.
• 3.
• Will provide mental health services to children, youth and care providers in settings such as client residence, school, community locations, tele-health and clinic sites.
• 4.
• In accordance to program, county and state requirements, will document service provision of full-scope Medi-Cal and Short-Doyle beneficiaries under the age of 21 with comprehensive, high-quality array of preventive (such as screening), diagnostic, and treatment services under Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment Services (EPSDT).

• Will complete clinical assessments for children and youth, identifying symptoms, resulting impairments, develop treatment objectives and interventions.
• 6.
• Maintain a caseload of clients, monitor and coordinate mental health services ensuring individualized and family-focused mental health treatment.
• 7.
• As part of a treatment team, coordinate service delivery with Mental Health Rehabilitation Providers, Licensed Vocational Nurses/Licensed Psychiatric Technicians, Psychiatrists and Administrative staff.

• Will collaborate with Community Partners to help coordinate care, identify resources to help reduce barriers for clients and families receiving mental health treatment 9.
• Will complete progress notes documenting service provision in electronic medical record (EMR) in timely manner and in accordance to standards designated by Program Director.
• 10.
• Will comply with program standards for documentation, evidence-based practices, treatment planning, discharge planning and other indicators of quality assurance.
• 11.
• Employees shall follow the reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws.

• Regular attendance to team/staff meetings.
• 13.
• Complete required hours of training.
• 14.
• Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
• 15.
• Will drive on Agency business as needed.
• 16.
• Physical presence at the program is required.
• 17.
• Employees are expected to manage their cell phone use so that the Agency cell phone stipend covers all business usage.
• Any calls not covered by the stipend are to be made on a company landline phone.
• 18.
• Comply with all Turning Point Safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to: workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, Infection Control and preventing potential safety risks for staff, residents and others.
• 19.
• Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at Turning Point.
• Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working.
• Employees also are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule.
• Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided.

Essential job requirements

1. Licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR, 2.

Unlicensed

A Master’s degree in behavioral science with current registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or an Associate Social Worker (ASW). 3. Demonstrated skills in clinical mental health services with individuals, families, and groups. 4. Knowledge of mental illness and effective treatment approaches to mental disorders. 5. Must have strong oral and written communication skills. 6. Ability to operate within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. 7. Ability to operate communication/meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other platforms. 8. Intermediate computer skills in, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms. 9. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required. 10. Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check. 11. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and TB test. 12. Must maintain good relationships with current, future and past employees, co-workers, vendors, third party administrators, and others with whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.

Essential job requirements for bilingual skill

• 1.
• Communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish.
• 2.
• Required ability to communicate effectively with monolingual Spanish speaking clients and families for all clinical purposes.
• 3.
• Assist with phone calls for Spanish clients.
• 4.
• Required to provide language translations for case managers and Physicians on a periodic basis.
• 5.
• Other translation tasks as required.

• Bilingual/Masters: Class 172 ($72,204.82 - $87,848.20)
