About the role

The Occupational Therapist conducts patient evaluations and develops customized treatment plans to improve daily living and vocational skills. They administer therapy across various settings and educate patients and families on home-based care.

PRN Job Summary

  • The Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in enhancing patients' ability to perform daily tasks related to work and life. They conduct assessments, devise treatment plans based on physician referrals, and document patient progress. This encompasses outpatient, inpatient, pediatric, and off-site settings.
  • Essential
  • Functions: Review physician referrals and patient medical history to determine therapy needs. Conduct and document patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatment plans according to department protocols. Administer prescribed occupational therapy treatments and create custom equipment for individual needs. Develop programs focusing on functional skills, vocational training, daily activities, and motor skills. Monitor progress and adjust treatment goals and plans as necessary, participating in patient care conferences. Educate patients and families on at-home treatment procedures. Analytical abilities to evaluate patient condition, capabilities and progress. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families. Requires the ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals. Demonstrates critical thinking skills.

Requirements

Candidates must be a Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of practice and hold or obtain BLS certification within 30 days. Two years of experience in an equivalent setting is preferred.
