Nexus Children's Hospital – Houston is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and collaborative Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our multidisciplinary team. Our hospital specializes in caring for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), complex behavioral needs, and co-occurring medical conditions.

As a BCBA, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing evidence-based behavioral interventions that promote meaningful outcomes for patients and families. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, and caregivers to create individualized treatment plans that support each child's growth, safety, and quality of life.

Position Summary

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavior analytic services to pediatric patients with a variety of neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and medical diagnoses. This role emphasizes clinical excellence, family-centered care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and data-driven treatment planning to support optimal patient outcomes.

Essential responsibilities

  • Clinical excellence
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and skill-based assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Utilize evidence-based behavioral interventions consistent with BACB standards and best practices.
  • Analyze behavioral data and modify treatment plans based on measurable outcomes.
  • Integrate developmental, behavioral, and medical considerations into treatment planning.
  • Create and maintain behavioral treatment goals within interdisciplinary treatment plans.
  • Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches to care.
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging research and advancements in behavior analysis.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and behavioral support staff.
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and other clinical team members.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and care planning discussions.
  • Collaborate with families and caregivers to support successful transitions and continuity of care.
  • Provide consultation regarding behavioral strategies across clinical settings.
  • Family support & advocacy
  • Foster a compassionate, family-centered approach to treatment.
  • Educate caregivers on behavioral interventions and treatment strategies.
  • Develop family training plans that promote generalization of skills and successful discharge planning.
  • Advocate for patients and families within healthcare and educational systems.
  • Promote participation in age-appropriate activities and community engagement.
  • Quality & compliance
  • Ensure compliance with BACB Ethics Code, HIPAA requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and internal audits.
  • Monitor program outcomes and behavioral metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Promote patient safety and adherence to best practices.

  • Engage in peer consultation, supervision, and mentorship activities.
  • Maintain current professional certifications and licensure requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education
  • Master's degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing ABA services to pediatric populations.
  • Experience working with children with complex medical and neurodevelopmental diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, genetic syndromes, and related conditions.
  • Experience in healthcare, inpatient, or interdisciplinary treatment settings preferred.
  • SKILLS
  • Strong behavioral assessment and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and ABA data collection systems.
  • Ability to support diverse patient populations and family systems.
  • Licensure & certifications
  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (must remain valid for at least six months from date of hire).
  • Completion of de-escalation training within 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain all required certifications and credentials throughout employment.
