Position Summary

The Laboratory Medical Assistant supports laboratory operations by performing administrative and clinical tasks. This role ensures proper specimen collection, preparation, and processing while assisting with day-to-day operations, maintaining equipment, and delivering excellent patient care. Essential Functions: Collect blood, urine, and other samples from patients following proper protocols. Label and document specimens accurately to ensure identification and traceability. Prepare specimens for analysis, including centrifugation and aliquoting. Provide clear instructions to patients regarding sample collection procedures. Monitor patient conditions during sample collection and report any adverse reactions. Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines. Maintain patient records in laboratory information systems (LIS). Schedule and confirm patient appointments. Coordinate with healthcare providers to share laboratory results promptly. Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance. Keep track of supplies and place orders to maintain adequate inventory. Ensure the lab complies with safety and quality standards, such as OSHA regulations. Participate in quality control checks and proficiency testing. Follow lab safety guidelines and dispose of biohazardous waste appropriately. Assist in maintaining compliance with CAP, CLIA, or other accrediting agencies. Other duties as assigned by supervisor Position Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years previous experience in a medical or laboratory setting is a plus. Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification is required. Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and medical terminology. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction. Proficiency in computer systems and laboratory information systems a plus Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of confidentiality standards (HIPAA). Covid-19 vaccination required as a condition of employment as required by State law. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma and required certifications as a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). Previous experience in a medical or laboratory setting is preferred along with knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
