About the role

Provide high-quality patient care by supporting clinical staff, managing patient flow, and assisting providers with exams and procedures. Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, administering medication, and maintaining a clean, safe clinical environment.

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role is vital to delivering high-quality patient care by supporting clinical staff, assisting with patient flow, and ensuring a positive experience for every patient who walks through our doors. As a Medical Assistant you will play a key role in supporting providers and improving patient outcomes. We are looking for someone who shares in the commitment of our organization's philosophy of "partnership" with patients while integrating its values of Respect, Quality, Compassion, Integrity, and Excellence.

Essential functions

Review patient’s medical history.

Elicit relevant information from patient/ patient’s care giver regarding current and prior conditions or ailments.

Elicit relevant information from patient/ patient’s care giver regarding their lifestyle and behavior.

Measure vital signs.

Administer medication.

Obtain and process specimens as directed.

Assist providers with exams and/or procedures, per the PCMH/NCQA model of care.

Conduct clinical supply inventories.

Stock exam rooms.

Maintain a safe and clean environment and verify that medical equipment is in working order.

Develop positive, professional, long term relationships with patients and their care givers.

Educate patients and their care givers on recommended techniques to improve and maintain good health.

Fill in or rotate in role of Clinical Support Assistant as needed, see attached Job Description.

Adjust approach appropriately according to the age and stage of cognitive development of the patient.

Promote good health throughout the facility in conversation and behavior.

Must maintain infection control standards at all times per organization policy.

Process Providers forms and see that they are faxed back accordingly to LCH&D policy. i.e. FMLA, DME, utility subsidies, return to work.

Qualification requirements

Certificate of completion from a Medical Assistant program.

Must have CMA/RMA certification, or ability to earn such certification within six months from date of hire.

Must have BLS Certification.

Must meet CEU requirements mandated by law to maintain license.

Must have valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus

Physical demands

Fine and gross motor skills will be frequently employed.

Some lifting of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.

75% walking or standing, 25% sitting at a desk.

Category I re: exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases.

Public and professional activites

Local travel required.

Attend relevant professional activities such as organization sponsored events as needed.

Attend trainings and seminars as directed.

Attend meetings as directed.

Requirements

Requires a certificate from a Medical Assistant program and BLS certification. Candidates must hold or obtain CMA/RMA certification within six months of hire and possess a valid driver's license.
