In this role, you will provide comprehensive emergency care in a critical access hospital, where your clinical decision-making, procedural skills, and patient relationships have a direct and meaningful impact. Why Physicians Choose SCH Flexible PRN scheduling Opportunity to practice full-scope emergency medicine Broad procedural exposure and clinical autonomy Strong collaboration with nursing and clinical teams Meaningful impact in a rural, community-based hospital Less administrative burden than large health systems Emergency Room Physician Responsibilities Evaluate, triage, assess, and treat patients presenting with acute and emergent conditions Perform comprehensive physical examinations and gather detailed patient histories Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging studies Provide emergency and critical care treatment, including stabilization and resuscitation Manage patient disposition including admission, transfer, or discharge
  • Perform procedures including: Laceration repair, wound care Splinting and fracture stabilization Incision and drainage Procedural sedation and regional anesthesia Lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, arthrocentesis Airway management, venous and arterial access Administer medications and develop treatment plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up care Document patient encounters accurately in accordance with regulatory standards Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required Completion of an accredited residency program (minimum 3 years) Active Michigan medical license required Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a high-acuity environment Excellent communication and teamwork skills What Makes This Role Unique Practice the full scope of emergency medicine in a critical access hospital Work in an environment where provider autonomy and decision-making matter Develop meaningful connections with patients and staff Balanced patient volume compared to large metropolitan ERs Be part of a team that values quality, collaboration, and patient-centered care What to Expect This PRN role offers flexible scheduling to support Emergency Department coverage needs. Requirements
