About the role

Medical Assistants facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience under the direction of licensed clinical professionals. Key duties include room setup, taking vitals, performing EKGs, drawing blood, and assisting with in-office procedures.

Description

Medical Assistants work in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals in a clinic or practice environment. MAs are expected to facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience.

What you will do

  • Room set up and patient preparation
  • Taking vitals (Manual & Electronic)
  • Perform EKG
  • Drawing blood and giving injections and immunizations.
  • Performing office tests (Point of Care Testing)
  • Pharmacology
  • Administrative duties
  • May perform or assisting with in-office procedures / treatments

What you will need

  • Education-
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of accredited/approved: MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT, or Paramedic program.
  • Credentials/Licensure (Preferred): Certification as a
  • Medical
  • Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) American Medical Technologists (RMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA) National Healthcareer Association (CCMA) National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA) American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • Related
  • Experience-
  • Minimum: In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.

Preferred

New graduate or 1 or more years of previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma and completion of an accredited MA, EMT, or Paramedic program. Certification (CMA, RMA, etc.) is preferred, or 2+ years of clinical experience in lieu of a formal program.
