About the role

The Medical Assistant/Scribe supports the patient care team by performing various clinical activities and technical procedures under physician supervision. They are also responsible for maintaining the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and managing the operation of the nursing unit.

SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant/Scribe functions as a member of the patient care team, contributing to the health management of the patients; performs a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for Clinic patients, many in assistance to section physicians and under the direction and supervision of the Patient Care Manager; maintains primary responsibility for all technical procedures and the operation and care of the nursing unit in the department. Assisting physician in maintaining EMR.

Preferred qualifications

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; experience working with the public; graduation from an approved medical assistant program or medical assistant training preferred; current CPR certification. Trained to perform ABI, EKGs, Rhythm strips, Pulmonary Function Testing, Tympanometry, CDL/DOT, 6 foot hearing and visual testing with form completion, Oxymetry, Diabetic Foot Exams including testing for PVD and Neuropathy with monofilament and vibratory testing.

Physical guidelines

Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift, move and transport patients, equipment and supplies; motor coordination and manual dexterity; articulate speech; ability to read and understand orders; visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors.

Requirements

Candidates should have a high school diploma and preferably be graduates of an approved medical assistant program with current CPR certification. Experience working with the public and the ability to perform specific diagnostic tests like EKGs and pulmonary function testing are desired.
