Master’s degree in social work with 600 hours of clinical practicum experience and 3,000 hours mostly MSW supervised experience. At least 1,380 of these hours need to be spent directly with clients and a minimum of 100 hours of face-to-face supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in a social science discipline and at least one (1(year substance abuse related experience.
Counselors shall be licensed or certified by the applicable Virginia Health Registry Board or by a nationally recognized certification board or eligible for this license or certification.
