Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant (MA) is a vital member of the healthcare team responsible for providing clinical and administrative support in a medical setting. The MA works under the direction of licensed healthcare providers to ensure efficient and effective patient care and smooth office operations.
Clinical Duties Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, weight, and medical history. Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries. Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider. Perform basic laboratory testing and phlebotomy. Collect, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing. Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment. Maintain examination rooms, medical supplies, and clinical equipment. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date patient records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Maintain organized electronic patient records by scanning, uploading, and filing medical documents within the EHR system. Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, pharmacies, laboratories, and external healthcare facilities to coordinate patient care. Ensure all patient information and documentation are handled in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
