UPMC is hiring a full-time floating Medical Assistant, Senior to support the Administration PHMG teams/offices. *Job title and salary will be based on qualifications and career ladder requirements.

This floating position will be a member of the Advanced Practice Providers Float Pool, providing coverage and support across our primary care offices.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support UPMC Primary Care patients and providers while playing an integral role in a growing initiative across Central Pennsylvania.

Shift/Hours: Monday-Friday varying within the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm.

No weekends or holidays!

Responsibilities

Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations. Prepare and clean patient, exam, and procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms. Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. Other front office responsibilities, as required. Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma and completion of a Medical Assistant program, certification, or at least one year of patient care experience. Must hold current CPR/BLS certification and various state-mandated clearances.
