A reasonable estimate wage for this position is $200/HR.

Position Summary

The Psychiatrist (PSY) reports to the Medical Director and coordinates and provides psychiatric evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning to adult and young adult patients with mental health needs. The Psychiatrist will be a member of our multidisciplinary services team of Primary Care Providers, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors, and Psychiatric Providers. This will be a Part-time position, 8 hours a month. Required to float to other SNAHC locations depending on business need. Essential Functions: Practices within the scope of the California Board of Medicine practices and under the oversight of the Medical Director, and within organizational guidelines. Provides direct psychiatric services through comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, including prescribing and administering medications. Conducts labs, diagnostic tests, referrals and appropriate assessments of patients including history taking and physical and mental health examination consistent with scope of practice department protocol. Analyzes and interprets patients’ histories, symptoms, physical findings or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses. Prescribes appropriate medications (dosage and route) utilizing best practices, detects and responds to medication side effects and adverse drug reactions. After initial mental health assessment, refers patients to Behavioral Health therapists or other Psychiatric resources as appropriate. Coordinates psychiatric assessment, treatment and management of patients through consultation with the primary care provider, Behavioral Health team and other care providers to facilitate comprehensive patient care plans. Provides care for patients in mental health crisis or who present with acute mental health needs. May provide initial level of psychiatric consultation to all professionals (physicians/nursing) within Medical Department, under guidance of Medical Director. Provides clinical supervision to Psychiatric mid-level providers, including review and co-signing of provider notes and quarterly peer review, chart audit and documentation. Assists with daily clinic activities including patient flow, triage (i.e., walk-ins and telephone contacts), patient emergencies, health records flow and laboratory/ consultation/referral services. Documents in an EHR physical findings, formulates plan/prognosis based on patient's condition and follow- up with patient in an accurate, timely way. Establishes and maintains communication with other health care providers and departments to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness and to promote consistency and continuity of care. Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning Participates regularly in staff improvement activities and performance improvement opportunities for the company and department. Demonstrates effective interpersonal, listening, verbal/written communication and conflict resolution skills. Complies with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, scope of practice, OSHA, etc. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsSkills and Abilities: Excellent computer skills, preferably with Windows, including Microsoft Office Suite Excellent telephone and communication skills Must possess excellent organizational, writing, and verbal skills. Ability to work independently, set priorities, and work well under pressure. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality Ability to demonstrate superior professionalism when dealing with patients, subordinates, colleagues, community members and vendors. Ability to collaborate and convene across sectors and organizational levels.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have graduated from an accredited school of medicine, successfully completed psychiatric residency program, be currently California licensed plus Board certified or Board eligible in Psychiatry. 4+ years of clinical experience in a clinic environment. Current Basic Life Support certification required ICD-10 trained with the ability to chart visits comprehensively and complete E&M coding in compliance with medical coding standards. Must successfully complete the provider credentialing process in accordance with National Accreditation requirements. Experience with Nextgen or other electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

Care and compassion in working with low income, indigent, and/or substance abusing individuals; Skill in working with people of varied social, ethnic and economic backgrounds. Experience in a nonprofit and community clinic setting. Bilingual Please Note: This position may be grant funded. Continued employment is contingent upon renewed or additional funding and may be discontinued at the close of the grant cycle. Grant funding for any position does not impart any contractual right, either expressed or implied, to remain in Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc.’s employment for a specific period of time. Grant funding does not affect the Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc.’s status as an “at will” employer.

Requirements

Must be a medical school graduate with a completed psychiatric residency, California licensure, and Board certification or eligibility. Requires 4+ years of clinical experience and current Basic Life Support certification.
