About the role

The Sociotherapist manages a caseload of 8-10 therapeutic foster children, providing interventions to support their wellbeing and safety. They collaborate with the Behavioral Health Team to implement individualized plans for youth and families.

Position Overview

Children and adolescents in our foster care department have experienced multiple types of traumas and loss and require additional supports. The Sociotherapist will carry a caseload of 8-10 children designated as therapeutic and will be responsible for providing interventions that support the wellbeing and safety of children and adolescents in the FFC department. The Sociotherapist will work in close collaboration with the FFC Behavioral Health Team to ensure that the needs of the youth/families are being met through the use of individualized plans and interventions. Position requires flexible scheduling of hours (some evenings and weekends) to meet the needs of the clients.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, Associates required, plus two years applicable experience, in children’s mental health, addiction, and/or foster care/child welfare/juvenile justice.
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking is preferred.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • NYS Valid Driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to client homes in various locations to provide services.
  • Must have access to and be proficient with computer systems.
  • Ability to navigate NYC and surrounding areas successfully (geography/communities).
  • Evening and weekend availability.
  • Must Pass Fingerprint/ Background Clearance.
  • Ability to manage time: service provision and timely documentation submission.

Requirements

Candidates need at least an Associate's degree and two years of experience in children's mental health, addiction, or child welfare. A valid NYS driver's license and the ability to work flexible evening and weekend hours are required.
