Job Description: Summary:
Assembly of supplies needed for surgical procedures specific to Resource Maps when necessary.
Monitors and stock supplies/Jax Pax to facilitate age specific patient care when necessary.
Responsible for the decontaminating, assembly and processing of instrument sets to facilitate age specific patients when necessary.
Under the supervision of the Manager and collaboration with clinical Coordinator of Surgical Support Services is responsible for assigned shifts as schedule full time or part-time.
Certification for Surgical Technologist required.
Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
Assesses, organizes, and maintains surgical supplies and inventory Jax Pax on a daily basis to facilitate age specific patient care when necessary.
Assures all supplies are properly located according to bin location.
Places all instruments and trays in proper location.
Assists other support staff as needed.
Runs errands to other departments as needed.
Assembly of supplies needed on surgical procedures specific to Resource Maps, monitoring and stocking supplies to facilitate age specific care when needed.
Interacts with other departments as needed.
Receives, decontaminates, inspects, assembles and sterilizes instrument sets to facilitate age specific patient care when needed.
Acquires knowledge in all aspects of sterilization, autoclaves, Sterrad, sonic wash, and washer when necessary.
Monitors steam sterilizer loads, has ability to identify problems concerning codes and warnings on computer printouts when necessary.
Maintains instrument availability for scheduled and additional cases.
Process instruments in the most efficient manner possible, which includes having all trays complete and ready for their appropriate procedures on time.
Complete knowledge of the biological indicators and Bowie Dick (DART) test for testing of the sterilizers when necessary.
In the event that a load needs to be recalled, can coordinate this procedure when necessary.
Coordinates with surgery personnel on instrument sets needed for surgery cases when necessary.
Responds and communicates well with co-workers and other departments.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
• Completion of nine month to one year approved course in surgical technology.
Certification as a Surgical Technologist required, Sterile Processing Certification or equivalent is preferred.
Current BLS Certification to be obtained during orientation period and maintained throughout employment.
Certification through a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), and the Council on Occupational Education (COE)
• Knowledge of hospital policy and procedures, to assemble trays, perform sterilization, operate equipment, and perform basic computer skills.
