Job Summary

Responsible for performance of ultrasound procedures in at least one of the following: abdominal, obstetrics and gynecology, adult or pediatric echocardiography or peripheral vascular ultrasound. The Graduate Ultrasound Technologist is an interim position between graduation from an accredited ultrasound program and employment as a Technologist, Ultrasound. The Grad. UT must take and pass the licensing exam, becoming registered within one (1) year of employment.

Education

Completion of an accredited Technical Ultrasound Program.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification

Registry eligibility. CPR Certification. The Graduate Ultrasound Technologist is an interim position between graduation from an accredited ultrasound program and employment as a Technologist, Ultrasound. The graduate must take and pass the licensing exam, becoming registered within one (1) year of employment.

Work Experience

6 months related experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access as might be used in the preparation of correspondence/reports. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize/prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to perform basic ultrasound procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Exercises appropriate judgment, efficiency, and correct technique in the performance of ultrasound imaging. Maintains proper documentation of data according to departmental and hospital policy/protocols. Supports unit/hospital goals through QA and educational activities. Collaborates effectively with patients, family, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team. Complies with all departmental and hospital policies. Performs other duties as required.

Decision Making

Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.

Working Relationships

Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
