  • Social Security Administration, Credentialed Work Incentives Planner-Credentialed (WIP-C CWIP) obtained within 6 months of hire date - Social Security Administration, Drivers License (Valid) - USA

Job Description: Summary:

This position has been developed to support individuals served by IPS teams. The Benefits Counselor will work with IPS Team Leads and the Director of Operations for IPS Services to provide ongoing benefits counseling for those individuals identified as being in need of this service. The Benefits Counselor will complete documentation, to include a completed Work Incentives Benefits Analaysis Report, as well as a service note written for each date of service.

What You'll Do

1. Possess a thorough understanding of ALL eligibility requirements (including local requirements), processes, & rules for all types of benefits, including SSA, SSI, State of NC, Housing, etc.

2. Possess the ability to complete basic benefits calculations.

3. Have basic knowledge of work incentives (how they work, how they are calculated, etc.).

4. Understand how to access work incentives (for example, 1916b, Subsidies, IRWEs, PASS, etc.).

5. Support the individual to develop a better understanding in regard to the questions and concerns he/she has around his/her benefits and working.As appropriate, help the individual develop a plan to maximize his/her earning potential, report his/her earnings, and navigate the benefit systems he/she is involved in or seeks to gain involvement in.

6. As appropriate, provide the individual a report explaining the results of the WIBAS services generated analysis.

7. As appropriate, provide a written report to the individual regarding any changes to his/her entitlements.

8. Create a Work Incentive Benefits Analysis and/or amend a Work Incentive Benefits Analysis in the event of the individual seeking the PRN or Supplementary Benefits Counseling portion of WIBAS services.

9. Possess the ability to develop IRWEs, Subsidies, Special Conditions, & PASS with individuals.

10. Schedule date/time(s) for when and where services are to be provided. Communicate effectively and efficiently, in the individuals preferred mode of contact (email, phone, letter, etc.).

11. Follow service definition guidelines for service being provided.

12. Complete all other relevant responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

13. Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required. Maintain certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements.

14. Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas.

15. Traveling and driving may be required.
