About the role

Provide direct recovery services to individuals with substance use disorders within the Macomb County Jail. Maintain required documentation and metrics to ensure compliance with funding and organizational standards.

  • Job Summary A peer recovery coach assists individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
  • A peer recovery coach brings the lived experience of recovery, combined with training and supervision, to assist others in initiating and maintaining recovery, helping to enhance the quality of personal and family life in long-term recovery.
  • The ideal candidate will maintain professionalism and be eligible to provide services within Macomb County Jail.
  • Description of responsibilities: 1.
  • Provide direct services to individuals as assigned.
  • 2.
  • Ensures assigned paperwork is completed and maintained in accordance with funding source standards and CARE of SEM policy and procedures.
  • 3.
  • Demonstrates in practice there are multiple pathways to recovery.
  • 4.
  • Documents information for established metrics and outcomes as required.
  • 5.
  • Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including evening and weekends.

Required experience

1. Must be in long term recovery from a substance use disorder for at least four consecutive years. 2. One year of peer coaching or related experience is preferred. 3. Must be able to obtain Security Clearance at Macomb County Jail

Required skills / education

  • 1. High school Diploma or graduate equivalent degree required 2.
  • Must possess active status in both certifications: 1. Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) 2. Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) or have an active development plan through MCBAP and timely completion. 3. Certificate of completion of the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) Recovery Coach Academy, including ethics.
