Position Summary
The CT Technologist performs Computed Tomography (CT) scans to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of customer/patient medical conditions. The CT Technologist operates CT imaging equipment, ensuring customer/patient safety and comfort, while following established scanning protocols. The CT Technologist is responsible for collaborating with healthcare teams to produce high-quality images while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Primary accountabilites 1.
Maintains a safe environment with the operation of CT and related equipment for customers/patients, coworkers, and self by adhering to CT policies, procedures, and guidelines.
2.
Properly screens patients for CT scan and effectively documents and communicates pertinent and required information pre and post procedure performance.
3.
Positions patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with department safety procedures and protocols.
4.
Produces images consistent with image quality standards and evaluates CT scans for technical quality.
5.
Properly identifies, prepares and administers medications that are within the CT Technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
6.
Monitors patients during scanning procedures, observing for any adverse reactions or complications and taking appropriate action when necessary.
7.
Maintains flexibility, adapts to changes in workflow processes and the needs of the Health First organization based upon fluctuations in patient volume.
8.
Communicates effectively with customers (patients, LP, other Health First associates, the public, etc.) always using excellent customer relation skills.
9.
Follows all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations and adhere to Joint Commission/ACR standards.
10.
Provides orientation and education for new Technologists and assists Radiologists in developing new protocols and CT imaging techniques.
Work Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of one of the following: o American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) – Accredited programs or schools OR o Joint Review Committee Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) Nuclear Medicine Program.
- Work Experience: None
- Licensure: General Radiographer licensure in the State of Florida.
- Certification: o Any one of the following:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (R) OR
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine Technology – ARRT (N) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). o Advanced American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT (CT) certification within two (2) years of start date. o American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: o Ability to report to department within 30 minutes when on call. o Able to work effectively and efficiently in a stressful work environment and able to respond to life threatening situations. o Demonstrate effective time management, critical thinking skills, and coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS • Work Experience
- Prior CT experience.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Physical requirements
- Physically agile; requires walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching majority of the shift.
- Heavy work that frequently includes lifting or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more with or without assistance.
- May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- May be exposed to inside environments and outside environments with extreme temperatures, air contamination, dirt, grease, or water.
- May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- May operate various types of manual and motorized equipment used in the transportation of materials.
- May be exposed to intense noise or vibration and awkward or confined work position.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
