About the role

In a trainee role, the technician provides support to physicians and patients for diagnosing and treating sleep disorders. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic sleep testing, patient monitoring, and documenting findings.

Shift and Status Full time, 6

30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., variable days and weekends Job Summary In a trainee role, provides physicians and patients with support needed to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and the promotion of good sleep. Essential Functions Under the mentorship of a registered technologist, performs diagnostic sleep testing, including but not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties. Documents findings / patient responses in a manner consistent with documentation guidelines. Reports equipment problems to the appropriate person. Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required High School Diploma or equivalent Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP), AASM, American Academy of Sleep Medicine within 1 year Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days. Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with completion of an accredited sleep technologist education program within one year. Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days.
