The Hospitalist is responsible for assessing and monitoring the medical needs of hospitalized patients and managing a case load including ICU beds. They provide oversight for APPs and participate in process improvement activities to ensure quality patient care.
Corewell Health Pennock Hospital is seeking a full time Hospitalist to join their team of eight providers (3 physicians and 5 advanced practice providers) providing exceptional care for the hospitalized individuals and families in Hastings, MI.
Located right along the Thornapple River, Hastings is a great community conveniently situated between Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and Lansing.
Pennock Hospitalists work days with a staffing model of one physicians and one APP caring for an average total census of 18 to include up to 6 ICU beds.
Nights are covered by a virtual nocturnist and an on-site APP.
Some procedures and manage vents preferred; tela-ICU physician available for consults through state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.
Essential Functions Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
Acts as a patient/family advocate.
Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.

Candidates must hold a Michigan MD/DO license and be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with strong inpatient experience. BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
