Department Description We are a comprehensive breast imaging center providing services across nine fixed locations and two Mobile Mammography Units.
The expert and caring staff at Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health are fellowship-trained, board-certified specialists who focus on breast health.
We conduct hundreds of mammograms each week and diagnose and treat more than four hundred patients each year.
Under the supervision of a Radiologist, you will utilize specialized knowledge and skills to produce high-quality mammographic images for screening and/or diagnosis, invasive breast procedures, and DEXA exams for specified patient population.
As an imaging professional, you’ll be aligned with the latest technology, evidence-based medicine, and clinical research.

For technologists with no prior mammography experience, we offer a comprehensive 12-week training program that will equip you with the knowledge and tools needed to provide high-quality breast care.
For experienced technologists we provide an abbreviated training program that includes a comprehensive review of our protocols, machines, and IT platforms.

Under the supervision of a Radiologist, utilizes specialized knowledge and skills to produce high quality mammographic images for screening and/or diagnosis, invasive breast procedures and DEXA exams for specified patient population. Assumes responsibility for directing and controlling qualitative and quantitative standards of work performed at Bearden-Josey Centers of Breast Health. Minimum Requirements Education Associate’s Degree from an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology Experience Documented 40 hours of training specific to mammography as required by the FDA Documented 8 hours training in each mammography modality to be used to perform exam as required by the FDA Documented performance of 200 mammogram exams in the last two years as required by the FDA Documented 15 hours of continuing education , 3 years consecutively as required by the FDA License/Registration/Certifications ARRT registry in Radiography with registry or registry eligible status in Mammography South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Licenses Current Basis Life Support (CPR and AED) provider Preferred Requirements Preferred Education N/A Preferred Experience N/A Preferred License/Registration/Certifications N/A Core Job Responsibilities Perform screening and/or diagnostic mammograms and bone densitometry exams Assist radiologist with invasive breast procedures Review images for quality and tissue acquisition Explain procedure to patient reducing anxieties and obtain patient history relevant to exam As requested by radiologist communicate results to patient Open communication with scheduling and registration to ensure appropriate physician order is obtained Engagement with Breast Imaging Navigator as needed to assist with further patient needs or appointments General equipment assessment, reporting any issues to Breast Other Duties as assigned
Requires an Associate's Degree from an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology and ARRT registry in Radiography. Must meet FDA-mandated training and experience requirements, including specific mammography training hours and exam performance.
