Job Requirements

Position Summary

To be fully engaged in providing No Harm / Quality, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: working as a team to maintain responsible attitudes, analyzing cytological specimens to provide quality results and using resources efficiently. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES Complies with the department policies/processes/procedures to provide accurate results, quality products and services with ≤2 errors per year. Assures valid results as evidenced by zero patient or sample identification errors in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of laboratory procedures. Understands and applies sample quality control and equipment quality control per department policy as measured by review of quality control logs with ≤5 errors per year. Complies with "I CARE" values as measured by no positive disciplinary action. Manages daily workload in a productive manner.

Work Experience

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Work Experience: None Licensure: As required licensure by the State of Florida and in accordance with CLIA guidelines.

Certification

  • Appropriate certification by the ASCP or other similar accrediting agencies.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Excellent human relations skills. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent communication skills. Strong computer skills. Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures. Must be able to respond to a “call in” if needed within 30 - 45 minutes. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping. Long periods of computer time or at workstation. Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance. May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise. Communicating with others to exchange information. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. Workspace may vary from open to confined. May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
