Provide high-acuity nursing care within a Level I Trauma Center, chest pain center, and comprehensive stroke center. Manage patient care across a 109-bed Emergency Department and a 19-bed Observation Unit.

In addition to being one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Connecticut, our RNs treat patients with the highest acuity in the region, the Hartford Hospital ED is also a chest pain center and comprehensive stroke center. The department is comprised of 109 beds, with the addition of a 19-bed ED Observation Unit. The ED treats an average of 109,000 patients annually. Hartford Hospital is home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), which is recognized as one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. Our ED is also home to Life Star the state's first Critical Care helicopter service. Our Rock Star ED RN’s are the recipients of the prestigious National Lantern Award for Excellence in Nursing. Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN degree required; ASN/ADN RNs with relevant experience may be considered.
  • Licensure: Current Connecticut RN license required prior to start date.
  • Experience: Previous acute care RN experience preferred, however new graduate RNs who are passionate about Emergency Medicine are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
  • Certifications: BLS certification by the American Heart Association is required prior to date of hire. We take great care of careers. Requirements

Requires a BSN degree (ASN/ADN considered with experience) and a current Connecticut RN license. BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory prior to hire.
