About the role

Provide safe and cost-effective respiratory care and services to patients under clinical supervision. Document all respiratory care provided and respond to patient needs in a timely manner.

Position Summary

Under the Clinical Supervision of the Medical Director of Respiratory Care and the overall supervision of the Manager,Assistant Manager and Respiratory Care Supervisor the Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), III functions in a safe, expedient, and cost-effective manner in providing, responding to patient needs and documenting respiratory care and services provided. The Respiratory Care Practitioner III is involved in the Clinical Ladder program which is a voluntary promotion system that recognizes health care professionals who demonstrate advanced knowledge, critical thinking skills, and professional development. Minimum Requirements American Heart Association BLS Certification is required. Associate Degree or higher in an approved CoARC program for Respiratory Care Active licensure with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board upon hire and is maintained yearly. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required. American Heart Association ACLS is required. If working in the Children's hospital you are required to have AHA PALS and NRP in place of the AHA ACLS and you must have completed the NBRC NPS exam by 12 months from your orientation end date. For non-medical center Respiratory care departments AHA BLS and ACLS are required. AHA PALS and NRP are required at 6 months from hire date. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department. OBH is fully accredited, provides high quality care in a compassionate environment to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay, and has been nationally recognized for outstanding patient care. Requires an Associate Degree in an approved Respiratory Care program and active North Carolina licensure. Must hold RRT, BLS, and ACLS certifications, with PALS and NRP required for specific pediatric or non-medical center settings.
