About the role

The Medication Aide is responsible for the safe and accurate administration of prescribed medications to residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care. Additionally, the role involves assisting residents with daily living activities and providing emotional support to enhance their overall well-being.

The Medication Aide plays an essential role in supporting residents' health, comfort, and daily experience across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. This position is responsible for administering medications and assisting with daily living activities while ensuring care is delivered with compassion, dignity, and respect for each resident in Assisted Living and Memory Care. The Medication Aide supports not only clinical outcomes, but also emotional well-being, independence, and meaningful daily living-helping residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Medication Administration & Clinical Support in Assisted Living and Memory Care

Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations.

Ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery following all policies and procedures.

Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, side effects, and overall response.

Communicate any medication-related concerns, changes, or follow-ups to nursing leadership.

Coordinate with nursing staff to support continuity of care and medication management.

Accurately document medication administration and treatment completion in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and other required documentation systems.

Maintain Security, accountability, and proper storage of medications in accordance with state regulations and community policy.

Resident Care

Assist residents with activities of daily living including eating, bathing, dressing, and mobility.

Provide snacks and supplements, encourage hydration, and assist with feeding as trained and needed.

Perform care responsibilities that promote residents' safety, comfort, dignity, choice and independence.

Maintain confidentiality of all resident and staff health and personal information.

Follow all Peaceful Pines policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.

Adhere to OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control and safety practices.

Ensure care is delivered in a safe, clean, and supportive environment.

Recognize and report safety concerns, incidents, or changes in condition promptly.

General requirements

  • Must successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.
  • Must submit to a TB test in accordance with state regulations.
  • Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of resident and organizational information.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to respond effectively to resident needs in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed in the state of South Dakota as a Medication Aide (or willingness to complete on-the job training if not currently licensed).
  • Passion for working with seniors and/or caring for others.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and service-minded.
  • Ability to provide care with patience, empathy, and attention to detail.
