Apply casts, splints, and other durable medical equipment to orthopedic patients in an outpatient setting. Provide essential patient and family education and manage the inventory of supplies in the cast room.
At the Orthopedic Clinic at Short Pump Pavilion, we provide a range of care to patients of all ages for a multitude of orthopedic sub-specialties to include foot/ankle, hand, joint, shoulder/elbow and spine as well as pediatrics, oncology, sports, trauma and wounds. We are made up of a collaborative team of RNs, LPNs, CMAs, NPs, PAs, Surgeons and Physicians who are dedicated to providing exceptional care to or patients.
45am-5pm and we offer flexible shift options. You will work some Saturday clinic hours 9am-1pm but no nights or holidays are required. Enjoy free parking onsite!
Under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, the Orthopedic Tech job applies casts, splints and other DME to the Orthopedic patient population in an outpatient setting. This role provides patient/family teaching to a wide variety of patients with varying educational levels. This role also orders and maintains supplies in the cast room. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Orthopedic Technician Certified (OTC) by the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologist (NBCOT) preferred
BLS Certification required Current/active OTC certification preferred

Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner in providing patient care related to casts, splints and wound care all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor regarding time/schedule changes, legal issues, direct care which deviates from standard and identifying educational resources to meet developmental needs.

Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed.
