The Substance Abuse Counselor provides drug and alcohol treatment through individual, group, and family counseling sessions. They are responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and maintaining detailed clinical documentation in compliance with agency policies.

In this role, you'll provide individualized support, evidence-based treatment, and compassionate guidance to clients navigating substance use and recovery. You'll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team while making a meaningful impact in your community.
What You'll Do
Conduct substance use assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
Provide individual, group, and family counseling services as clinically appropriate.
Support clients through case management, crisis intervention, and recovery planning.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Collaborate with treatment providers, community partners, and support systems to coordinate care.
Facilitate group sessions and educational programming that support recovery goals.
Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Deliver high-quality, client-centered services in accordance with best practices, regulatory requirements, and agency standards.
At the discretion of the Personnel Officer, additional related experience and/or education may be substituted for the requirements specified under Education and Experience

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in behavioral health or a high school diploma combined with five years of clinical experience in substance abuse treatment. Full certification by a nationally recognized body in addiction counseling and specific background clearances are required.
