Overview

Responsibilities

• The Certified Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations.
• Performs scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures.
• Ensures that the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure.
• Assists with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient.
• Ensure adherence to Hospital, State, and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT – Certification. Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in the State of NJ. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

• Requirements: High School or GED equivalent. Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program. Minimum of one (1) year as a Certified Surgical Technologist. Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
