About the role

The CT Technologist I prepares and positions patients for CT examinations and assists in monitoring scan performance. They participate in image reconstruction and quality review while following a structured training program to develop clinical competency.

The CT Technologist I is under the supervision of the Senior CT Management Team and performs duties pertaining to the CT scanner in a structured training environment. This role supports the development of technical skills, clinical judgment, and competency in computerized axial tomography systems. The position is designed for new graduates or technologists early in their careers, with progression toward independent practice.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities Prepares and positions patients for CT examinations of various parts of the body, ensuring proper alignment and image quality Enters instructions into the system for scan procedures and assists with monitoring scan performance Assists in evaluating scan results for quality and completeness, with guidance as needed Participates in image reconstruction, post-processing, and image quality review activities under supervision. Supports radiologists and team members in routine imaging procedures and workflow Responds to patient physical and psychological needs and explains procedures clearly to reduce anxiety Uses proper hand hygiene before and after patient contact Observes patient condition and reports any changes to the nurse or physician Maintains accurate and complete records related to procedures performed Ensures exams are appropriately transmitted to PACS and related systems Participates in daily room checks, equipment readiness, and inventory processes Participates in quality assurance activities including equipment readiness checks, phantom testing, image quality review, and departmental quality initiatives. Reports incidents affecting patient care through appropriate reporting systems Participates in a structured onboarding and training program Participates in clinical rotations across East and West campus CT locations to develop competency in a broad range of CT procedures, patient populations, and clinical workflows. Develops competency in CT procedures through progressive responsibility and supervision Successfully completes departmental competency requirements, clinical procedure documentation, and CT training milestones as part of a structured clinical development program. Required Qualifications Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology required. Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license required. (Temporary MA license acceptable for new graduates) ARRT registration or eligible required in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, or Computed Tomography. Must obtain ARRT (R) certification within 3 months of hire, if new grad. Must obtain ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months of hire. 0–1 year related work experience required New graduates from accredited Radiologic Technology programs are encouraged to apply New hires will have 30 days to provide BLS certification. Certification must be with the American Heart Association (AHA) Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and basic Microsoft Office programs which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Continued employment is contingent upon successful attainment of ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certifications within defined timeframes Failure to meet certification requirements may result in reassignment or termination in accordance with hospital policy Competencies Decision Making: Ability to make decisions guided by established protocols and supervision. Independence of Action: Works under supervision with increasing independence as competency develops. Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English. Role Progression This is a training role designed to develop competency in CT imaging. Employees who successfully obtain ARRT (CT) certification, complete departmental competency requirements, and successfully fulfill structured clinical training milestones will be eligible for advancement to CT Technologist II.

  • Range: $46.55 - $69.17 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law. Requirements

Requires an Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology and a Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license. Candidates must obtain ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certifications within specified timeframes after hire.
