GYN Advanced Practice Provider, Hematology/Oncology

Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our GYN Department located in our Norfolk office. ***Please take this quick survey once you've submitted your resume to complete the application process: APP PI Survey ****If you have completed the survey before, even for another position, please do not take it again.

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for GYN oncology patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting Admit and discharge patients on behalf of the attending physician Initiate and document appropriate interventions Evaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocol Prescribe drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation Assist in the operating room Round on surgical patients Assess patient and family needs and provide education Promote/provide staff education Serve as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home setting Incorporate evidence-based research into clinical practice Maintenance of active hospital privileges

Qualifications

• Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program Post MSN oncology/gyn oncology nursing or Physician Assistant experience preferred Patient and surgical skill set experience preferred Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment preferred RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant Must be available to work Saturdays Prefer acute care experience or prior privileges in acute care Must be willing to travel to the various hospitals and practice locations PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
